The Year of the Fire Horse 2/17/2026
Tomorrow, February 17, 2026, is the start of the Chinese New Year or Lunar New Year. We transition from the Year of the Wood Snake, a close-to-the-Earth, slow moving, slithering creature to the Year of the Fire Horse, a fast-moving, beauty who gallops across the contours of the Earth with power and elegance. The Fire Horse moves with passion and clarity and is a beautiful sight to behold. This is going to be a time of high speed changes, leaving the past behind with a flurry of energy.
In times like these we can expect sudden shifts and changes, endings and beginnings, and very unexpected events and opportunities. Fire Horse is very social, talkative and greatly values relationships. Assert your intention to form new bonds with others with likeminded values.
1966 was the last Fire Horse year, where we saw huge changes in collective values, behaviors and societal norms. Fire Horse comes only once every 60 years, so expect to see big shifts.
This is a time of extreme Fire – the most Fire possible actually. The Horse is innately the Fire element; we have Yang Fire as the supporting element this year; Horse represents the peak of Summer, the highest Fire element time of year; and 2024 began a 20 year Fire element cycle.
Whew! Fire represents purification, illumination, and transformation, it burns off illusions and false pretenses and won’t tolerate stagnation.
In order to navigate these extreme Fire energies, it’s important to understand how to create balance so you can stay in the flow with the energies available. Burn out and anxiety/anger are a side effect of too much Fire.
With the overabundance of Yang and Fire, Yin Water and Earth Element are required for balance. With its cooling and flowing affect, Water can add balance by being on, in or around bodies of water, do water ceremonies and rituals often, have images and elements of water in your environment, etc.
There is no Water element whatsoever in this chart, not a drop. This can signal overthinking, over analysis, and can stop progress and follow-through. Once you have clarity on an idea and the energy behind it, strongly commit and use the courage and fortitude of the Horse to take action, or the energy can get obstructed.
This year has great potential for a leap in consciousness to take us to the next level.

All the Love in the World
Music moves me. Literally.
But some songs grab me from the start and never let me go.
This is one of those songs.
I feel it in the depths of my heart, poignantly, powerfully.
A mix of tenderness and joy is stirred.
Ultimately it lands with hope.

Empaths
art source: New York Times
“A lot of empaths became the good one, the easy one, the one that doesn’t cause trouble, the one who understands, and this is subtle, but it shapes your entire social life, because if your were rewarded for being low need you can grow into an adult who feels ashamed of having needs at all, so you become incredible at giving, you listen you support, you respond fast, you remember details, you make people feel seen and you might even feel proud of this because it’s a beautiful quality, but here’s the question that changes everything-
Can you receive? Can you let someone be there for you without feeling guilty? Can you say I’m not okay without adding immediately, But it’s fine don’t worry? Because if receiving feels unsafe friendship becomes one-sided. You become the emotional home for others while your own inner world stays locked. And then you get tired, not because you don’t love people, but because you keep abandoning yourself.”
