What a powerful impact Gloria Steinem had on the evolution of women’s rights. When I was small, I remember my mom who was a huge fan, talking about her and what were considered her “explosive” comments (like women should earn equal pay for equal work) in a time where women were supposed to sit down and shut up- which my mom never did. I felt the impact of her voice and presence as I developed a deep seated respect for all women and our plight for justice & equality. I recall hearing comments from many men about the futility of this “women’s movement” as if it was just a troublesome phase.

While we all still work tirelessly to bring equality to women across the world I mourn the loss of Gloria Steinem. I sit with gratitude knowing she was a force to be reckoned with, never gave up the fight.
and caused generations of women, and men who love them, to be fueled by her rebellious and powerful spirit.
