Adrienne Rich on Love from The Marginalian

An honorable human relationship… in which two people have the right to use the word ‘love,'” Adrienne Rich wrote, “is a process, delicate, violent, often terrifying to both persons involved, a process of refining the truths they can tell each other.”

Rich continues— “…”it is important to do this, because we can count on so few people to go that hard way with us

My Belief-- It Really Is All About Love

Take what you practice on the mat, off the mat and into your life.
Deep breaths, long limbs, lifted crowns, rooted stances that steady your days.
Take your long spine and empowered core with you as you travel.
Sink deep into the Earth when you feel untethered.
Lift your crown to the heavens affirming the connection to all that is,
Take your strength and flexibility into the heat of any given day.
Let your vibrancy be contagious, shining it when humanity is feeling dull.
Lead with your open heart.
Let your love spill out into— and heal— this imperfect world.
And please remember for the day ahead of you—
It really is all about love.

It Really Is All About Love-- Summer Session Closing Thoughts

I leave you with these thoughts as we venture into the coolness of autumn
Take what you practice on the mat— off the mat— and into your life
Deep breaths, long limbs, lifted crowns, rooted stances that steady your days
Take your long spine and empowered core with you as you travel
Sink deep into the Earth when you feel untethered
Lift your crown to the heavens affirming the connection to all that is
Take your strength and flexibility into the most heated of days
Let your vibrancy be contagious, shining it when humanity feels dull
Lead with an open heart
Let your love spill out and heal this imperfect world.
And please remember, for this day and the days ahead—
It really is all about love.

Let's Take a Collective Breath

We all have an inherent power that when honored reminds us that it’s not about how much stuff we acquire, how big our houses are, or how line-free we stay as we venture towards our later years. It’s about how much we love & are loved. Are we daring with our loving proclamations? If not then why not? Do we offer our feelings up for those we love to receive? Maybe the better question is “Are we clear on what we feel?” :O Can we stop the distracting madness of the day to say to those we love—

“Wait! Let’s take a collective breath, see the beauty that is right here, right now and remember why we are here.”

We cultivate love when we allow our most vulnerable and powerful selves to be deeply seen and known, and when we honor the spiritual connection that grows form that offering with trust, respect, kindness and affection.

Love is not something we give or get, it is something that we nurture and grow, a connection that can only be cultivated between two people when it exists within each one of them—we can only love others as much as we love ourselves.

Shame, blame, disrespect, betrayal, and the withholding of affection damage the roots from which love grows. Love can only survive these injuries if they are acknowledged, healed and rare.

I sat in the garden that night & I thought about the most important thing for me. That we love & are loved. All the time in every moment, no matter how it looks to other eyes that don’t remember quite yet. That’s why I think remembering is one of the most important things we can do right now. It’s how we stop & see the world again for the very first time. In all of its aching beauty & joy & pain. the immensity of all of it. It’s how we open to being loved wildly & deliciously until we are filled beyond anything we ever thought we could hold.
